This is the so-called transmog system that has been implemented in Destiny 2 a few months ago, and players started making incredible looks inspired by characters from their favorite franchises. Players can also turn any armor piece they unlocked into a universal ornament by spending Synthweave, a material that is acquired by completing Ada-1's Armor Synthesis bounties. The latter are often especially valuable to players as they allow them to change the appearance of their Destiny 2 characters in various ways, customizing their look.
