How you can control yourself in the air in this game is a healthy middle for me between SCIV and the NES games. Now is this a bad thing? Yes and no… If you read my review on Super Castlevania IV(SCIV) i was not fond of the 8-directional whip, at least not combined with the level design which made the 8-directional whip broken. No 8-directional whip, no defensive whip stance and less control of Richter in the air (although it is better than in the NES games). Ok, i start playing and you notice something right away.
The first town from Simon’s Quest, i thought that was pretty cool. My first impression was very good to say the least. Richter looks great and the background in the stage looks amazing. Another benefit of the CD is that the music files are big and proper so the soundtrack sounds amazing, the theme for this game “Bloodlines” or “Opposing Bloodlines” sounds in the video and in the first stage and you can already see that here we have a pretty cool game. Damn it Dracula is such a dick… Richter then of course has to fight through Draculas’ minions to save the girls and slay Dracula once again.Īnd daaaamn does this game start off cool! Since Rondo of Blood is released on a CD for the PC Engine there is space for some wicked cool anime like sequences. Draculas’ minions are attacking the nearby towns and while at it he kidnaps four girls, one of them being Richter girlfriend. Seems like Dracula will always come back if there are still wicked people in the world. Dracula is brought back by the dark priest Shaft and his evil servants. In this one we actually get a new story woohoo! In Rondo of Blood we play as the young, strong and handsome lad Richter Belmont. Let’s see if it is worth the hefty price tag. You can buy that,or buy it on the PSP/Wii virtual console 🙂 The PC Engine itself costs about the same. A copy in good condition is being sold from around 160$, 110GDP or 150EUR. The reason it is so rare is because it was released only in Japan and only for the PC Engine CD add-on which was expensive and not as popular as the SNES in Japan. When he is kept at this distance, his rotating attack would fall just out of range.This rare gem is the Castlevania made for the Turbografx 16 or “PC Engine” in Japan. The Axe is great against the bird-mounted Flea Men and the big green armored dudes.This effectively swaps a Pot Roast for an Extra Life, obtainable by destroying the ship's engine for some reason. The big metal thing in the ship can be pushed from the left to enable entry from the right.I completed stage 5/8 in the train from Aalborg to Copenhagen.
